'Miski's muse'

“Words are my weapons
Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ Miski's muse

"Amateur with an eye"

I wanted to share an armature photo session I had with my sister Miski today. For a beginner I think she did an amazing job.

Finding a reason to smile – Priceless

The highlight of my day was a compliment a Caucasian guy on the street gave me. He literally chased me, stopped me and said “You walk with such air of confidence it almost feels like your flying. Man you would make such a pretty super hero."

Instantly I thought of my childhood She-hero Storm from the X-man and smiled to myself. Best compliment ever received. Hence why I want to share it.

Other than that, another mundane Monday.

Aborting my thoughts

“Words are my weapons
Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ Naïve

How naïve of me to wage war with your words
When I stand alone,
In an open soccer field
Begging GOD to choose me to play for your team
Vowing to be your feminine feline
Ready to breeding you as many a litter as God will scrape out of my womb
Knowing,
Each stretch mark left behind by your child
Will be identical to the ones I leave on your back.

I wish I could
Entice you back
With the words of Michael Buble
And tell you
That there's something missing
Because "you haven’t met me yet".

I wish I could
Get lost in you
The same way I did your XXL sweater
Parking away
My insecurities
Long enough
To make out
With the possibility
Of you and I
Without feeling like
I am losing myself

I wish I could
Inhale your musky male scent
And get taken to a place
Where I can help you
Navigate your

Desires
And fears
More accurately than Your GPS system.

I wish I could
Shield you
From shady sisters
Who will fall all over you
HARD I am sure
When you become a successful lawyer
And make it rain.

I wish I could
Let you
Glimpse your future
Though my eyes
So bright
And spectacular
Like a eclipse waiting to happen

I wish I could continue to know you
Mr. Esquire
Long enough to
Raise a glass
At any of your glories moments of tribute
Smiling
The same way I smiled
The night I met you at Tribute
And was immensely charmed by you!

Cheers to easy friendships.

"I had a date with Monday I wish I stood up"

“Words are my weapons
Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ Monday's Muse

I had a date with Monday I wish I stood up

I anticipate Mondays the way people anticipate breakups – with dread! I wish I can find a way to divorce Monday’s or at least prolong my fleeting affair with Fridays. Better yet, why not just stand up Monday's and not even bother showing up for our usual date.

How wonderful would it be, if someone could bottle up the feeling of a Friday and make it into a fragrance to be purchased on a Monday? I know I would purchase that scent in large quantities and overdose myself with it every Monday.

Although I hate Mondays, and I admit my hatred dates back to my childhood – could be a repressed childhood memory now that I think about it. Maybe I got teased extra by the never ending bullies on Monday's? Maybe I flanked a major test that had a profound impact on my life today? Maybe I got dumped on a Monday? Or maybe I just hate the darn day because it would be admitting that the weekend has gone by in a blink and back to reality: School, work. Whatever the case or reason, I've always hated Monday's

Hence why I make an effort to make uneventful Monday's a little more bearable by playing dress up. Let me be honest, I never really need an excuse to dress up. I love all that is feminine, and dressing up in pretty things always makes me good.

"The company you keep can be sweeter than the foods you eat"

“Words are my weapons

♥ Ajisen Ramen

"Sometimes the company you keep can be sweeter than the foods you eat"

I went to lunch with one of my favourite girl – the beautiful and very sweet Shannon! Gosh I love this girl and I am going to miss her tremendously this summer when she leaves me to go volunteering abroad in India. 9 more days and out she goes chasing yet another adventure. In my next life, I want come back as Shannon, or at least her favourite purse – thus jet setting with her wherever she goes.

But anyways, Shannon and I linked up at Ajisen Ramen restaurant, a Japanese joint located at 5229 Young Street with amazing, amazing ice cream. Their black sesame ice cream was extremely tasty. Although, visually it looks like you’re eating coal, especially with its cement like visual. But nonetheless, it was pretty incredible. I definitely recommend stopping by to get some of this ice cream if you’re ever in the area.

Thanks for a lovely lunch Shannon.

♥ My favourite treat

``You're like a creamy coconut red velvet cheese cake``

You are the last ingredient missing
To bake this delicious indulgence I call my life
My career
Like yeast left overnight
Has risen to new heights
Love has send me the butterscotch caramel semi sweeten man
I have always been on the hunt for
My dreams,
Which started off as an unimpressive 1 layer cake,
Have turned into 5 layer of brilliance founded on
Patience, purpose, persistence, preservation, perfection.
And all that's missing now
Is that sprinkle and twinkle of hope and happiness
You always brought to my life
For what is success?
If you can't share it with your best friend.

I love you and always will. Now go be brilliant and free up your space so we can make some of our million dreams a reality ♥

♥ Yasmin's Blog

One of my favourite things to do on the internet is trying to find unique, yet inspirational blogs. I love seeing people's pictures, hearing their thoughts and being inspired by people from all different walks of life.

So a couple days ago, on a mundane Monday, I stumbled on the blog of a 15 year old girl by the name of Yasmin. Her blog immediately captured my attention. Her love of vintage clothing, photography, play on words instantly made me feel as though I had a connection with her. Man I wish I had half her passion, style and flare for life at her age.

My Sakura

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ My Sakura

Like a Japanese Cheery Tree in bloom

He is my emblem of love,
Affectionate,
White morals,
Tinged with palest of pink petals
Supported by strong stem of a man
Sadly,
He was never promised to be mine a second longer than his bloom.

So if tomorrow I awake,
To find a fleeting pink carpet of your petals laying at my feet,
Just know that
Like the coming of spring,
You represented new life to me
And watching you bloom this last year,
Was as spectacular as watching a Japanese Cheery Tree blossom.

Bag Lady

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ Bag Lady

Draggin all them bags like that

Anyone who knows me knows that I have always been somewhat of a bag lady..Feel like a Erykah Badu song coming on.

"Bag lady you gon hurt your back
Draggin all them bags like that
one day all them bags gon get in your way

Where my paper bag ladies
Let it go let it go
Im talking about my Gucci bag ladies
Pack light when you pack your bags ladies"

I wish I could pack light. I could never do it, which is why I love me my oversized handbags. If you have ever seen me, chances are you seen me toting an oversized handbag. Let's just say I have a long history of carrying bags that the average person would constitute a luggage carry on. My stubbornness and my love of these enormous sacks have me currently attending physiotherapy sessions. Lets just say my right arm and shoulder have gone to hell and back to compensate for my love of BIG bags.

I simply adore gigantic handbags. I love having bags that can carry a lot.

Usual Items:

- Iphone
- Ipod
- Makeup essentials
- A cardigan
- A scarf
- Flat shoes for the days I bust out the crazy 2-3 hr heals.
- A camera (I never, ever leave my house without one of my cameras.
- Variety of lip gloss (3-4) at a given day
- My planner
- My Journal
- A variety of little snack or fruits
- A great book to read and so forth....

Hence why I am not really big on these tiny little hand held clutch baguettes and purses the fashion industry is so determine to force down our throats.

So short of starting my own bag line, (which I still believe is an attainable dream of mine Insh'allah) I am always on the hunt for the perfect oversized bag.

Inner Chef

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ My Inner Chef

Chasing yet another dream

Recently, while taking a Photoshop class to polish my craft, I met an inspiring chef by the name of Daniel. From our first encounter I thought him to be sweet, intelligent, well spoken and extremely passionate about life and about his craft(cooking)

I remember thinking I want to be that infectious with my passions. I want to be that passionate about life in general. Listening to his story about what made him pursue his dream of becoming a chef and being in total awe of his upcoming trip to go study in Italy further inspired me to hear that tiny voice in the back of my head I often ignore, the one that’s been telling me for years to purse my ignored passion of learning to bake cakes, desserts and other yummy pastries.

Coincidence that my passion for photography led me to Daniel, who in turn led me to my other passion for cooking/baking. I think not. Coincidence that Daniel turned out to be my neighbour; ready to provide brochures, course selection, sample meals, and words of encouragement? I think not. There is no such thing as coincidence. It's just the universe dreaming with me and telling me to make my dreams a reality.
And so I shall. Stay tuned for my cooking/baking adventures.

And KUDOS to Thee: Daniel for being my inspiration.

Daddy I love you and you’re in my prayers!

Thank you for your company,
Your words,
Your hugs,
Your thoughtfulness,
And a million little thinks that bring a smile to my face daily.

Happy Nowrus

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ Happy Nowrus

To all my Iranian folks

My friend Shannon and I

So last night I went out to go celebrate the Iranian 1389 New Year! Happy Nowrus to all my Iranian people!

This ultra happening party was held at the beautiful Le Parc Banquet Hall in Tornhill. Some serious $$$ was required to attend this gala. A gift from my sweet Iranian friend Marshima. Thank you my dear!

The venue was absolutely beautiful, the people extremely friendly, the food simply divine, and the music – well the music just made you wanna dance your troubles away.

Oh and did I ever! My goodness I can’t remember the last time I danced so inhabited. I honestly had the time of my life – occupying the center of the dance floor majority of the night, which is so unlike me.

The company I was rolling was just purely delightful. Thanks for showing me a wonderful time ladies!

I honestly have to say, as far as people go, Iranian folks are extremely welcoming. I was dancing, talking to and enjoying the company of perfect strangers who acted the part of long lost friend.

Symbolic figure who usually starts off the festivities. Dancing with him was a BLAST!
The girls and I

The whole experience of observing a culture unlike mine was extremely pleasant. I am already looking forward to my next Iranian outing. Perhaps to go sample more of the yummy treats they were serving.

Hey at least I got to leave with a platter full yummy treats at the end the night.

These cookies were to die for

Also, a table known as the Haft Seen, a major part of the Iranian New Year ritual, was set up at the front of the hotel. Seven symbolic items are spread on the table: garlic, lentils, apples, vinegar, eggs, pudding and coins and many other variety of foods.

Cheers to an AMAZING night!

Love Jones

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥Love Jones

Dare I think your my Darius Lovehall?

I went all the way to Blockbuster/Rogers tonight, only to be disappointed by both – how can it be that the two biggest movie rental powerhouses not own a single copy of my favorite movie?

I was dying to see LOVE JONES tonight!

Something’s about this movie leaves me weak in the knees. You can say I’ve always wanted a 'Love Jones!

I've always wanted to be Nina Mosley (Nia Long) while trying to find my Darius Lovehall(Larenz Tate)

I think there’s something so magical about a poet and a photographer falling in love! Wouldn’t you agree? It’s almost like they would exist on a artistic ultra universe where they would feast on beautiful words, while painting their world in perfect shades of love!

One of my favorite quotes from the movie .....

Nina Mosley: "You always want what you want when you want it. Why is everything so urgent with you?

Darius Lovehall: "Let me tell you somethin'. This here, right now, at this very moment, is all that matters to me. I love you. That's urgent like a motherfucker"

WOOOW! Now that’s believable! Boys, TAKE NOTES!!!

I must find a copy of this movie! I don’t know how it's possible that I don’t own a copy already! If any of your out there have a copy, holla at a sister please.

Consuming my DREAMS

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ Makeup Artistry

Consuming yet another dream

Recently in life I’ve experience a lot, especially witnessing the trials and tribulations of others. Furthermore, I’ve come to the realization that life is extremely short and that we cannot take a single moment of it for granted.

With that being said, I’ve decided to step up my efforts, putting my passions into overdrive and chasing my dreams in gull gear.

Firstly, my photography is in full swing and has been for some time. I am extremely excited about the weddings I have lined up for 2010. You got to LOVE, LOVE! I know I love witnessing love and sharing such joy’s moments – added bonus getting paid to witness such magical moments capturing people’s weddings.

Secondly, I have been toying with pursuing makeup artistry on a serious basis for some time, going as far as having purchased all the Mac professional brushes, as well as half their inventory items the summer of 2009. A year later and I am that more committed to chasing this dream and advancing my skills in a profession I adore. This is where the esteemed and very well- regarded Yorkville School of Makeup and Esthetics comes in – to polish my rusty skills for me. I am SUPER excited about starting my classes there.

So far I’ve been fortunate enough to have amazing clients who let me test out my makeup application skills on them on their special day – for the brides that let me do their makeup thus far I thank you for the experience. For the once to come, I promise you were going to have a blast Insha’Allah.

Also, I’ve always dreamed of being my own boss, and having my own business, which Magan Moments is allowing me to do, but I never dreamed of finding a way to incorporate my love of fashion into my daily life, until now that is. Although my business ideas are extremely premature to share with you at this moment, just know I am super excited about another business idea I have in mind and have so far shared it with select family members. As always their support humbles me and shows me how fortunate I really am in life – they have gone far and beyond their duties as family members, with offers to help encourage, facilitated and most importantly give capital. MAN, I LOVE MY FAMILY!

I am grateful for them every single day of my life. Thank you God (Allah) for having blessed me with these amazing individuals. Love every single last one of you knuckle heads!

Anyways, stayed tuned for all these amazing undertaking I am pursuing. Knowing me I am sure I will share every little aspect with you in due time.

The Alchemist

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ The Alchemist

Its all about realizing your personal LEGEND

The most inspiring book I've read so far this years

Following your dreams in the face of absolutely intricacy is what ‘The Alchemist’ preaches as a book! It’s about a young man who’s on a quest to realize his personal legend (dream) of going to the Pyramids to find buried treasure - encountering so many complex obstacles; symbolic for all the obstacles we face daily in our daily lives when chasing our own dreams.

In the face of such adversary, this young boy remains true to himself and continues on his quest to realize that dream.

This book was a soooo inspirational for me. It really gave me the extra push I needed to continue chasing my dreams regardless of how hard it seems, or how many obstacle are in my way.

What a beautifully written tale. I think everyone should read this book at some point in their life. The sooner the better!

G1, G2, & G

“Words are my weapons

Words console, comfort and calm me when all else fails me

♥ G1, G2 & G

In record speed

How did you get here in a record speed?
Did I really issue you a G1, G2 and G pass into my heart all at once?
Because that’s so unlike me.
I usually bring a note book, precisely taking notes
While always watching the side and rear view mirrors constantly.
Let me tell you, I am quick to fail potential suitors, or eager first time drivers
Removing Dimera points faster than I issue them.
But now that your here, carrying a full license, let’s go over some safety rules.
I need you to not be a reckless driver.
Caution sign; drive slowly as if you have a baby on board.
Do not navigate into dangerous unpaved roads, or alley ways that lead to nowhere.
Instead take the main path laid out for you.
Pay attention to sign and signals, and light changes
And whatever you do, do not be so quick to proceed on a yellow light.
Even if you think no one is watching.
Avoid U-turns, and circling around emotions.
Inappropriate turns, and lane changing without checking with me are just as harmful.
Improper entrancing into exit routes may occur once in awhile if you’re not paying attention,
If this happens, I hope you have no difficulty backing up and yielding the right way.
And although it doesn’t seem too harmful when driving,
Taking too long to reach your desired destination can be detrimental.
No one likes a tardy driver.
But get there in one peace, and on your own comfortable speed.
Because the last thing I want to do is rush you, causing you to crash and burn
Than wonder if it was wise to issue you a G1, G2, and G all at the same time.
But most importantly,
If you see yourself becoming wiry, tired or uninterested in this journey.
Do us both a favor and pullover
No one ever died from such act.
In the mean time, know that you’re the only driver in my line of vision.
