I Said YES!

As you sleep in my bed,
Snoring as though the world is deaf.
I can't help but smile.
I sit here and try to make sense
Of the emotions awoken by your words.
Marry me you say!
Can it be Me?
I?
The woman who said yes.
With such ease.
Not because the words were coming out of your mouth,
But I was seeing them through your eyes.
The gate way into your soul.
You told me you wanted daughters that look like me.
What if I told you?
I want sons as driven as you.
As capable,
And as kind.
Your promises of sweet kisses,
Pancake and strawberry breakfast
Made especially by you
Are not as tempting as the image of being your wife.
The mother of your child.
You touch my stomach
And smiled like the cat that eat the canary.
Making me smile
For I foresee the same conclusion.
Is it possible?
Can it be true?
The boy next door
Grew up to be the man of my dreams?
He asked and I said yes.

He asked and I said yes
I said yes
Yes
Yes
