Lost Innocence

The responsibility of a child is to be care free.
To be happy and full of life do you not agree?
To run to the park and play in the sand.
Or make up friends for their imagination to expand.
To look forward to there next sugar rush
Full of chocolate and ice cream.
For them to avoid naps and punishments by coming up with little schemes.
To play dress up like kings and queens with there own regimes.
For them to do nothing but daydream.
Is that not the responsibility of a child?
Are they not entitled to be a little wild?
Yet, if you were to take the care free away.
What kind of child do you think that would display?
Perhaps a child that had to grow up too fast.
Could not relate to other children
And therefore was an outcast.
Did not dare to play in the sand.
Fearing that a monster would appear.
To become consumed utterly by fear.
To not speak about their demons
Believing that will give them power.
To pray and wait for justice until the final hour.
How would that child be as an adult?
Happy?
Normal?
My intelligence do not insult
That child most likely will turn out be a ticking bomb.
Ready to take anyone within a mile scope.
For they no longer dream nor hope.
That child has shut down and become numbness itself.
You see that is what happens.
When one lets a child loss their innocence.
