Lyfe’s Lullabies
"Lost between lullabies and lyrics and living in the lush memories of life, love and lose"

If I knew

If I knew
In meeting you
I would lose myself.

If I knew
For every door you opened
Your chauvinistic mouth opened along with it.

Every gift given
Had a price.

Every compliment uttered
Was accumulating booty call.

Every girl in passing
Was my measuring scale.

If I knew
Your mother was a fallen angel
And her words were worthy to be written in scriptures.

If I knew
Your sister was an incestuous bitch
Who I had to competition with for your time
Loyalty and love.

If I knew
You belonged to a race, creed or region
That needed me to bow, pray or salute your holier than thou ness.

If I knew
Marring you would make me your hand and foot bride,
I would have academically enslaved myself in more appropriate majors.

If I knew
My life purpose was to cater to you
I would have been more prepared for your vision of this gourmet existence.

If I knew
You would always be the one wearing the pants in the relationship,
I would definitely have brought a couple more pairs of jeans for the journey.

If I knew
I had to be soft spoken like your cousin,
As obedient as your sister,
And as opinion less as your best friend
Just to fit in, in your world.

IF ONLY I KNEW!
Would I ever have apposed you OH GREAT ONE???

Well let me try and correct my mistakes
While humbly offering you my middle finger.
